A Confidence Building Framework for Teenager and Young Adults
A Classroom in a School in Croydon Where I Delivered Leadership Skills for School Prefect - A Very Popular Course and One I Love Delivering
Adrian and His Wife at the Top of ToubKal, the Highest Mountain in North Africa - and One of His Favourite Quotes!Bravory and the online confidence building training course in Leeds was created by Adrian Close, a multi-award-winning business owner, leadership trainer and training consultant who has spent years helping people become more confident, capable and willing to step outside their comfort zone.
Adrian’s main work is delivering leadership, management and personal development training to organisations across the UK and further afield, including clients in the United States. Much of this work takes place in industries such as engineering, manufacturing, technology and IT, where confidence, communication and self-belief can make a huge difference to how people perform, lead and progress.
A big part of Adrian’s professional training is helping people build confidence: speaking up, communicating clearly, handling difficult situations, making decisions, challenging self-doubt and believing they are capable of more.
And that is a big part of why Bravory exists.
For Adrian, Bravory is about making a positive dent in his community. It is a chance to take the skills and experiences he uses every day in the business world and make them accessible to young people at a time when confidence can have such an important impact on friendships, education, future careers and life in general.
Adrian is also no stranger to working with teenagers.
Outside of his professional training work, he is a keen mountain climber and volunteers with his local school as a qualified supervisor for Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions. This involves supporting, encouraging and developing young people as they face challenges, work together, solve problems and discover what they are capable of.
He understands that teenagers do not need someone constantly telling them what to do. Often, they need somebody who will listen, encourage them, challenge them at the right moment and help them recognise the ability that is already there.
Adrian wasn't always confident either
Confidence has not always come naturally to Adrian.
There were times in his own life when self-doubt, uncertainty and a lack of confidence held him back. His journey from that point to becoming a successful business owner, trainer, speaker and someone who regularly stands in front of rooms full of people is an important part of the reason Bravory means so much to him.
You can read more about Adrian's own confidence journey in the About section.
Bravory is not therapy
It is important to be clear about what Bravory is and what it is not.
Where a young person needs specialist mental-health support, Bravory should sit alongside - not replace - appropriate professional help.
What Adrian wants every Bravory learner to discover
The aim isn't to turn every young person into the loudest person in the room.
It isn't about pretending to be fearless.
And it isn't about becoming somebody else.
It is about helping young people realise:
Because confidence isn't something a lucky few are born with.
It can be built.
And often, it starts with one small brave step.

Although Bravory and the online confidence building training course in Leeds is available to young people across the UK, Leeds and the surrounding area has a very special connection for me personally.
My connection with Leeds goes back many years.
Earlier in my career, I worked for a charity based on Call Lane in Leeds city centre, helping to raise funds for Help the Aged. Part of my role involved helping to organise sporting events around the UK, bringing people together to take on challenges and raise money for a cause that mattered.
Looking back, there is a connection between that work and what I do today. I saw first-hand what can happen when people commit to a challenge, support one another and discover they are capable of more than they initially believed.
More recently, Leeds became part of our family story when my daughter spent a year in the city completing her Master's degree. It gave me the opportunity to visit Leeds regularly and reconnect with an area that already meant a great deal to me.
Those visits also took me beyond the city, including spending time walking and hiking on Ilkley Moor.
But perhaps one of my strongest connections with Yorkshire and confidence-building came when I supported a group of young people, shortly after completing their GCSEs, as they attempted the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
Before the challenge, some of them genuinely questioned whether they had the confidence or ability to complete the full circuit.
They did.
And it reinforced something I believe very strongly:
Every journey and every challenge starts with the first step.
That same principle sits at the heart of Bravory.
Bravory is designed to help teenagers take manageable steps beyond their comfort zone, communicate with greater confidence, challenge unhelpful self-doubt and begin recognising what they are capable of.
Supporting Teenagers Across Leeds and West Yorkshire
Because Bravory is delivered online, teenagers and young adults can take part from home throughout Leeds and the surrounding area, including:
Leeds, Headingley, Horsforth, Roundhay, Morley, Pudsey, Otley, Wetherby, Ilkley, Guiseley, Yeadon, Garforth, Wakefield, Bradford and surrounding areas.
Learners receive the same structured Bravory confidence-building programme wherever they are based, with additional personal support and one-to-one sessions available depending on the programme selected.
For parents looking for confidence-building support for a teenager in Leeds, Bravory offers a practical approach focused on real-life situations such as:
From Leeds to Bravory
My career has taken me into leadership and management development, delivering training to organisations throughout the UK and internationally.
But my experiences in Leeds and Yorkshire have also reinforced something I have believed for many years.
Confidence isn't something we can simply give to a young person by telling them to "be more confident."
It develops through experience.
It grows when a young person faces a challenge, works through uncertainty, takes responsibility, communicates with others and eventually reaches the point where they can look back and say:
"I did that."
I saw that very clearly during the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
At the beginning, some of those young people were unsure whether they could complete it. Looking at the whole challenge could feel overwhelming.
But they didn't have to complete the entire route in one moment.
They simply had to take the next step.
Then another.
And another.
Eventually, those individual steps became something much bigger.
That's an idea I want every young person taking part in Bravory to understand.
Why Leeds and Yorkshire Matter to Me
From working on Call Lane, to returning years later while my daughter studied in Leeds, to walking on Ilkley Moor and supporting young people through the Yorkshire Three Peaks, this part of the country holds a lot of positive memories for me.
It has also given me some powerful reminders about the relationship between challenge, experience and confidence.
Standing at the beginning of a difficult walk and looking at what lies ahead can feel very similar to many of the challenges young people face.
If we focus on the entire challenge, it can seem enormous.
But confidence doesn't usually require one massive leap.
It starts with one manageable step.
That is what Bravory encourages young people to do.
Not frightening leaps outside their comfort zone.
Small, achievable acts of bravery that gradually build confidence, independence and self-belief.
My connection with Leeds began many years before Bravory existed, but the lessons I have taken from my experiences there fit perfectly with what Bravory represents today.
Challenge yourself. Take the first step. Discover what you're capable of.
And ultimately, I want every young person who completes the programme to understand one simple idea:
You don't have to wait until you feel confident before you start. Sometimes confidence begins by taking one small brave step.

You won’t just watch videos - you’ll take action, reflect, and build real-life confidence, day by day.
📆 Here’s How the 6 Weeks Work
✅ Week 1–2:
Discover who you are. Get to know your inner critic, understand what’s been holding you back, and start shifting your self-talk.
✅ Week 3–6:
Begin the 30-Day Confidence Challenge. Every day includes one small but powerful action to build your self-esteem. This is where the magic happens.
30-Day Confidence ChallengeConfidence-building is most meaningful when it leads to something a young person can actually do differently.
Amelia's story is a great example of that.
When I first worked with Amelia, one of the areas we focused on was building the confidence to take the next step into employment.
Like many young people starting out, Amelia had ability and potential, but applying for jobs meant putting herself forward, talking about her strengths, dealing with uncertainty and accepting that she might not always get the answer she wanted.
Rather than simply telling her to "be more confident", we worked on helping her recognise what she already had to offer, communicate her strengths more positively and take action even when she didn't feel completely confident.
The important change was not that every nervous feeling disappeared.
It was that Amelia became willing to act despite those feelings.
She started putting herself forward for opportunities, applied for work and was successful.
What Did Progress Look Like?
Confidence is much easier to recognise when we look at specific behaviours rather than simply asking, "Do you feel more confident?"
For example, a learner's progress could look like this:
| Confidence Area | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Speaking to new people | 4/10 | 7/10 |
| Making decisions confidently | 5/10 | 8/10 |
| Trying unfamiliar things | 3/10 | 7/10 |
The scores above illustrate the type of Before → After measurement Bravory uses. Individual learner scores and progress will vary.
But the numbers are only part of the story.
The strongest evidence is often what happens in real life.
For Amelia, that meant moving from thinking about employment and questioning whether she was ready, to actually applying for work and successfully securing an opportunity.

Confidence Is About What You Become Willing to Do
This is an important part of the Bravory approach.
We don't only ask:
"Did you enjoy the program?"
We ask:
"What can you do now that you might previously have avoided?"
That could be:
Those actions provide evidence that confidence is developing.
Creating a Before → After Story
Bravory learners can complete a Baseline at the beginning of their programme and return to the same confidence measures later.
This allows them to look at areas such as communication, social confidence, decision-making, self-talk and willingness to try new things and see where genuine progress has taken place.
Just as importantly, learners are encouraged to reflect on questions such as:
Amelia's experience demonstrates why this matters.
The goal wasn't simply for her to finish a confidence program feeling positive.
The goal was for greater confidence to help her take a real step forward in her life.
She did.
That's What Success Looks Like
For one young person, success might mean raising their hand in class.
For another, it might mean joining a club, going to college, attending an interview or talking to someone new.
For Amelia, one of those brave steps was putting herself forward for employment.
She built the confidence to apply - and she was successful.
That is the kind of progress Bravory is designed to encourage:
...not confidence for confidence's sake, but confidence that helps a young person take opportunities, make decisions and move forward.

Every young person is different, and confidence can show up in lots of different ways.
Some teenagers may seem confident at home but struggle in social situations. Others may be capable academically but doubt themselves when it comes to speaking up, making decisions or trying something unfamiliar.
Bravory may be a particularly good fit if your teenager:
Bravory is not about forcing a teenager to become louder, more outgoing or more like somebody else.
It is about helping them understand themselves better, recognise what is holding them back and begin taking small, manageable steps forward.
For some young people, that might mean speaking up more in class.
For others, it could mean starting a conversation, going to an interview, joining a new activity, making a decision without asking everyone else first, or simply feeling more comfortable being themselves.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is progress.
Small brave actions, repeated over time, can build real confidence.
Bravory is designed to help young people build confidence, communication skills, self-belief and the courage to take small positive steps forward.
It is important, however, to be clear about what Bravory is - and what it is not.
Bravory is a personal-development and confidence-building programme. It is not therapy, counselling or mental-health treatment.
If a young person is experiencing significant or persistent mental-health difficulties, severe anxiety, depression, thoughts of self-harm, trauma, a serious eating disorder, or there is a safeguarding concern, Bravory should not be used as a replacement for appropriate specialist professional support.
In these circumstances, support from a GP, qualified mental-health professional, school safeguarding team or another appropriate specialist may be more suitable.
Bravory may still complement other support where appropriate, but the young person's wellbeing and safety should always come first.
What Bravory Is Designed to Help With
Bravory is most appropriate for young people who would benefit from practical support with areas such as:
The aim is not to diagnose, treat or "fix" a young person.
It is to give them practical tools, encouragement and opportunities to discover that they are often capable of far more than they initially believe.
Knowing when Bravory is the right support - and when a young person needs something different - is an important part of supporting them responsibly.

Confidence rarely arrives all at once.
It is built in moments.
Those moments may look small from the outside, but they can change the way a young person sees themselves.
That is what Bravory is here to help with.
Not to turn your teenager into somebody they are not.
Not to make them the loudest person in the room.
But to help them become more comfortable in their own skin, trust themselves more, take opportunities they might once have avoided, and recognise that they are capable of more than they think.
If you are a parent or guardian reading this and thinking, “I know they have so much more in them,” Bravory could be the place to start.
And if you are a young person reading this yourself, you do not need to wait until you feel completely ready.
You just need to be willing to take the first step.
You don’t become brave because you have no fear. You become brave because you choose to move forward anyway.
Ready to Take Your First Brave Step?
Choose the Bravory programme that feels right for you and start building confidence that can make a difference at school, in friendships, in work and throughout life.
Start your Bravory journey today.
“I created this program because I’ve seen the damage low confidence causes - and the magic that happens when people step into their true power. You don’t need to wait for permission. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to begin. And I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way.” - Adrian Close

What is the Online confidence building training course in Leeds and who is it for?
Bravory is an online confidence-building and personal-development programme designed to help teenagers and young adults become more confident in everyday life.
The programme focuses on practical areas such as communication, self-belief, decision-making, social confidence, managing negative self-talk and becoming more willing to try unfamiliar things.
It is particularly suited to young people who may be capable and full of potential but are sometimes held back by self-doubt, overthinking, fear of getting things wrong or concern about what other people may think.
What age is Bravory suitable for?
Bravory is designed primarily for teenagers and young adults who would benefit from practical support with confidence, communication and self-belief.
The programme is most suitable for young people who are able to engage independently with online learning and reflect on their own experiences.
If you are unsure whether Bravory is appropriate for your teenager, you are welcome to get in touch before enrolling.
Is Bravory available throughout Leeds?
Yes.
Because Bravory is delivered online, teenagers can take part from home throughout Leeds, Headingley, Horsforth, Roundhay, Morley, Pudsey, Otley, Wetherby, Ilkley, Guiseley, Yeadon, Garforth, Wakefield, Bradford and surrounding areas.
This means young people can access the same structured programme and support wherever they are based in the county.
Is the course online or face-to-face?
Bravory is primarily an online programme.
Learners work through structured confidence-building content and practical activities from home, allowing them to progress in a comfortable environment.
Depending on the package selected, additional live or one-to-one support may also be included to help the learner apply what they are learning to their own situation.
Does my teenager need to be extremely shy to benefit?
No.
Bravory is not only for teenagers who are very shy or quiet.
Confidence difficulties can appear in many different ways. A young person may be outgoing with friends but struggle to speak up in class, attend an interview, meet new people, make decisions or believe in their own abilities.
Bravory is designed to help young people understand where confidence is holding them back and develop practical ways to move forward.
What happens if my teenager doesn't want to talk much initially?
That is absolutely fine.
Some young people take longer than others to feel comfortable opening up, particularly when meeting someone for the first time.
There is no expectation that a learner must immediately share everything or be highly talkative.
The aim is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where trust can develop naturally. Learners can begin by listening, reflecting and answering simple questions, with conversation developing at a pace that feels manageable.
Can a parent or guardian book Bravory for their teenager?
Yes.
Parents and guardians can enrol a young person onto Bravory and can be involved in the initial stages of the programme.
Depending on the package chosen, this may include an introductory parent or guardian conversation to understand what has been noticed at home and what the family hopes the young person will gain from the programme.
The learner's own goals and experience remain an important part of the process.
What is included in Bravory Plus?
Bravory Plus provides the core Bravory learning programme together with a greater level of personalised support.
This includes private learner sessions, a personalised Confidence Action Plan, progress reviews and additional support designed to help the learner turn the online learning into practical changes in everyday life.
Bravory Plus also uses a structured Before and After approach so progress can be discussed and measured rather than relying only on whether the learner enjoyed the course.
What happens in the private sessions?
The private sessions are relaxed, practical conversations focused on the learner's own goals and experiences.
The first private session is used to explore what the learner would like to become more confident doing and to create a personalised Confidence Action Plan.
This normally includes:
The second private session focuses more heavily on evidence of change.
The learner reflects on what they can now do that they may previously have avoided, which actions made the biggest difference, what they have learned about themselves and what their next challenge should be.
How do you measure whether confidence has improved?
At the beginning of the programme, learners are encouraged to complete a simple confidence baseline.
They score themselves from 1 to 10 across key areas such as:
These same areas are reviewed again later in the programme.
This creates a simple Before → After comparison and encourages the learner to identify real evidence of progress, such as doing something they would previously have avoided.
The aim is not to create a clinical assessment. It is to help the young person recognise their own development.
Is Bravory therapy or counselling?
No.
Bravory is a confidence-building and personal-development programme. It is not therapy, counselling or mental-health treatment.
The programme focuses on practical skills such as communication, self-awareness, confidence, decision-making, positive self-talk and taking manageable steps outside a person's comfort zone.
If a young person is experiencing significant mental-health difficulties, persistent severe anxiety, depression, trauma, thoughts of self-harm or a safeguarding concern, Bravory should not replace appropriate specialist professional support.
Who is Adrian Close?
Adrian Close is the creator of Bravory, a multi-award-winning business owner and professional leadership and management training consultant.
His main work involves delivering leadership, management, communication and personal-development training to organisations throughout the UK and internationally.
A significant part of his professional work involves helping people develop greater confidence, improve their communication, challenge self-doubt and become more effective in work and life.
Adrian created Bravory as a way of using that experience to make a positive difference to young people and his wider community.
Does Adrian have experience working with teenagers?
Yes.
Adrian has a long history of supporting and developing young people and has a particularly strong personal connection with Leeds and the wider Yorkshire area.
Earlier in his career, Adrian worked for a charity based on Call Lane in Leeds, helping to raise funds for Help the Aged. His role included supporting and organising sporting events around the UK, giving him first-hand experience of how challenge, teamwork and shared goals can bring out confidence and determination in people.
More recently, Adrian's connection with Leeds became personal again when his daughter spent a year in the city completing her Master's degree, giving him the opportunity to visit regularly and spend more time in the surrounding area, including walking on Ilkley Moor.
Adrian has also supported a group of young people shortly after completing their GCSEs as they took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Some of the group initially doubted whether they had the confidence or ability to complete the full circuit.
Supporting them through that experience reinforced one of the principles behind Bravory: confidence is developed through experience.
When young people are given the right balance of challenge, encouragement, responsibility and support, they can begin to recognise capabilities in themselves that they may not previously have realised were there.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks experience also captured an idea that sits at the heart of Bravory:
Every journey and every challenge starts with the first step.
Whether that challenge is climbing a mountain, meeting new people, speaking up in class, attending an interview or starting college or university, young people do not need to feel completely confident before they begin.
Sometimes, confidence develops because they were willing to take that first small brave step.
How long does the programme take?
The main Bravory confidence programme is structured over approximately six weeks.
This gives learners enough time to understand the ideas, practise new behaviours and take small brave actions in everyday life rather than simply completing the content as quickly as possible.
Some learners may move through parts of the programme at a slightly different pace depending on their circumstances and the package selected.
How much does Bravory cost?
Bravory offers different levels of support so parents and learners can choose the option that best suits their needs.
The price depends on the package selected and the level of personal support included.
Please see the programme options and pricing section on this page for the current packages and what is included with each one.
If you are unsure which option would be most suitable, you can get in touch before enrolling and we can help you understand the differences.

What is Bravory?
Bravory is an online confidence-building and personal-development programme for teenagers and young adults.
It is designed to help young people develop practical, everyday confidence in areas such as communication, social situations, decision-making, self-talk and trying unfamiliar things.
The focus is not on becoming louder or more outgoing. It is about helping learners understand themselves better, build self-belief and become more willing to take positive action even when they feel nervous or uncertain.
Who is Bravory for?
Bravory is designed for young people who may be capable, talented and full of potential but are sometimes held back by:
The programme is particularly suited to young people who would benefit from practical encouragement, structure and manageable confidence-building challenges.
Who created Bravory?
Bravory was created by Adrian Close, a multi-award-winning business owner, leadership and management trainer and training consultant.
Adrian's main professional work involves delivering leadership, management, communication and personal-development training to organisations throughout the UK and internationally, including clients in the United States.
Confidence-building is an important part of this work, particularly within industries such as engineering, manufacturing, technology and IT, where Adrian regularly helps people become more confident communicators, leaders and decision-makers.
Bravory gives Adrian an opportunity to use that experience to make a positive difference to younger people and the wider community.
Does Adrian have experience working with young people?
Yes.
Adrian previously worked with young people in inner-city Nottingham, using sport and outdoor activities to develop confidence, teamwork and self-belief.
He also worked at Holme Pierrepont, where he guided rafting activities and taught canoeing.
Today, alongside his professional training work, Adrian volunteers with his local school as a qualified Duke of Edinburgh expedition supervisor, supporting teenagers as they deal with challenge, teamwork, problem-solving, uncertainty and situations outside their comfort zone.
This combination of professional training experience and practical work with young people has strongly influenced the Bravory approach.
Where is Bravory available?
Bravory is delivered online and is available to teenagers and young adults throughout Derbyshire and across the UK.
This includes young people based in:
Leeds, Headingley, Horsforth, Roundhay, Morley, Pudsey, Otley, Wetherby, Ilkley, Guiseley, Yeadon, Garforth, Wakefield, Bradford and surrounding areas.
Because the programme is online, learners can work through the programme from home while still receiving structured learning and, depending on the package selected, additional personalised support.
What does the Bravory programme involve?
The core programme combines structured online learning with practical confidence-building activities.
Learners are encouraged to understand where confidence may be holding them back and then apply what they learn in everyday situations.
Depending on the Bravory package selected, learners may also receive:
The aim is to move confidence-building away from theory and into real life.
How does Bravory measure progress?
Bravory encourages learners to establish a clear starting point before beginning the programme.
Learners can score themselves from 1 to 10 across key confidence areas, including:
These same areas can then be reviewed later in the programme.
This creates a simple and meaningful Before → After comparison.
Learners are also encouraged to identify real-life evidence of progress, such as speaking up when they previously stayed quiet, starting conversations, attending interviews, making decisions independently or trying something they would previously have avoided.
The purpose is not to provide a clinical assessment. It is to help learners recognise their own development.
How long does Bravory take?
The main Bravory programme is designed to run over approximately six weeks.
This gives learners enough time to understand the ideas, practise new behaviours and take small confidence-building actions in everyday life.
Confidence is unlikely to change simply by watching videos or reading information, so the programme encourages learners to put what they learn into practice throughout the six-week journey.
Is Bravory therapy or counselling?
No.
Bravory is confidence-building and personal-development training. It is not therapy, counselling or mental-health treatment.
The programme focuses on practical development in areas such as confidence, communication, self-awareness, decision-making, positive self-talk and taking manageable steps outside a person's comfort zone.
Where a young person is experiencing significant mental-health difficulties or requires specialist professional support, Bravory should not be used as a replacement for appropriate healthcare, counselling, safeguarding or mental-health services.
How much does Bravory cost?
Bravory offers different programme options depending on the amount of personal support a learner requires.
Some young people may be comfortable working through the core programme more independently, while others may benefit from additional one-to-one support, personalised action planning and progress reviews.
Current prices and exactly what is included in each Bravory package are shown in the programme options section of this page.
If you are unsure which option would be most suitable, you can contact Bravory before enrolling to discuss the different levels of support.
